住みよいところに人が暮らし道ができ、集落が繋がる。往き来が増えるとそこにインフラが敷かれる。便利なものはどんどん取り入れられ、そこにさらに人が集まってくる。

鎌倉は難攻不落の馬蹄形の狭い土地の中で社会が完結する。建長寺、円覚寺と渡来僧が開山すると続々と教えを請うべく留学の僧が来日し、国際都市となった。が、小さな都につき山の斜面にはやぐら、いわゆるくり抜いて装飾を施したお墓が並び、そこには階級上層部が眠り、海岸付近には縦穴に平民が重ねられた。
しかしどちらの古都も池は埋められやぐらは草に覆われ様相は一変した。
もはやwifi網により情報に地方格差はなくなった。田舎は敬遠される場所ではなくなってきた。むしろパリのブルジョアが週末に田園を目指すかのような、ルーラル志向が高まれば環境のいい田舎が求められてくる。刺激と快適という離反するものを欲張る場合はウィークデイを都市に、となるが、朝靄と薪ストーブの匂いに価値を求めるなら日常に田舎が選択肢になる。
都会の朝は空中で目覚め、朝露が葉を濡らす様子も窓には映らず、TVモニターで地方からの中継で朝の光を感じる。窓を開けても入ってくるのは、無機的な中にどこかからの朝食の匂いが混じったものくらいだ。バーチャルなウィークデーを数え、ウイークエンドに田舎を目指すことになる。
ブッシュクラフト動画が心地いい。アウトバックに踏み込み、倒木や木の皮でシェルターや即席のリクライニングを作りながら数日を過ごす記録。ソロキャンプなので鳥や虫や風や焚き火の音しか流れず、淡々と仮の住まいが出来上がっていく。いわば自然からの間借り。天空以外には灯はなく、完全に自然の一員になる。水を汲み薪を集め、ときに食料を調達し、ひたすら数日を生きる。先々の備えに手を動かし続けながら、おそらくソロキャストは雑念と闘っているはずだ。都会に置いてきたはずのノルマや義務や絶望や嫉妬などなどがいちいち頭をよぎり、黙々と知らないふりをする。山岳修行僧が自然に身を置きひたすら真理を求めるかのようだ。誘惑のない書斎、それが自然だ。去る時には焚き火跡もないよう地中に還しすっかり元の状態に戻す。だれかがそこで悶々としたこともすっかり消え、元の自然連鎖が続くのである。
