建長寺が建立される前はここは処刑場だったそう。
そのことから建長寺が本尊として祀るのは珍しいことに地蔵仏。
かつて 処刑場に選ばれたというだけあって、
鎌倉市街からは巨福呂峠を隔てた谷に位置する。
この両師遠諱の催しで酒井泰玄老師の提唱を拝するに、
このめまぐるしくものごとが流れていく時代の中にあって、
ここ(寺院全般)だけは川の中の大石のように不動であると感じる。
ひたすら座り、自己の中に入り込み、無となる。
座禅は足を組んで、手を輪に組み、吐くことから呼吸に集中する。
さっきまでおしゃべりだった女性グループも静まり、
静寂がつつみ、やがて鳥の鳴き声や風が枝を揺るぐ音が際立ってくる。
僧いわく、これが無。頭中が真っ白になることではなく、邪念が消えること。
体験座禅ゆえか、警策は棒を持った直日(じきじつ)と言われる僧が
自分の前を歩き通過するときに自分から申し出る意味で合唱・低頭していただく。
身体の緩みを見つけられて打たれるのではないことが意外。
20分の座禅を2回、2回目やっても頭の中の蜂たち(春樹さんより)と
堂外の鳥たちのぐちゃぐちゃした気配だらけで、キリッとシンクロしない。
これは今後の課題に。
